Suukou (pronounced Sookoe & means "Sublime" in Japanese) is my American Akita and I am completely ruined, I'll never have any other type of dog!   Suukou was diagnosed as having Sebaceous Adenitis in the spring of 2006 after a year (and about $4000) of treating mis-diagnosed allergies.   While she may have some allergies, her skin problems are due to SA.   Much props to Dr. Kim Clary at the Animal Hospital of Rowlett for her diagnosis, she pretty much picked it as soon as she saw her.

Suukou's SA progress page.

These are the pictures I took of Suukou the night I bought her, she's about 6 weeks old.  How can you not love an Akita when they look like this?!?!   Her ears & tail were up very early.  She's playing with her Booda Pig in these pictures and they are still her favorite toy.  I bought a case of them, I hope Booda doesn't stop making them!

Suukou's about 4 months old in these pictures, starting to look like a big girl now.

Here she is at about 6 months old, these are my favorite two pictures I have of her, she's just beautiful.  The SA hadn't kicked in and she has her full form.   In my wildest dreams, her tail will look like that again!

Suukou is around 1 year old in these pictures with "Aunt Lori", we miss her.

I don't remember how old Suukou is here.   The other Akita in these pictures was named Cujo.   He was wonderful as a puppy but after the testosterone kicked in he became very difficult to deal with and had to be put down, having an unpredictable 135 pound Akita is never good.   A true shame, he was a beautiful dog.

These we taken in late February 2007, Suukou
is about 7.5 years old.   I didn't know she was
going to get her picture taken or I would have
cleaned her eyes, it was allergy season.
